Israel: Vaccine Injury Insurance Law, 1989
Under Israel's Vaccine Injury Insurance Law, 1989, the State insures people who receive a vaccine listed in the law's schedule against injury resulting from the vaccination. COVID-19 vaccines were added to the schedule in January 2021.
- No need to prove negligence. The question examined is whether the vaccination caused the injury (causation). An expert committee appointed by the Minister of Health examines this question.
- Choosing a route. A person who claims under this law generally cannot also bring a separate tort claim in court for the same injury. The choice has consequences — get legal advice before filing.

Other countries
Many countries operate compensation schemes for vaccine injuries, each with its own eligibility rules, evidence requirements and deadlines. For example:
- United States: claims related to COVID-19 vaccines fall under the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP), administered by HRSA.
- United Kingdom: the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme makes a one-off payment where a vaccine is found to have caused severe disablement.
Rules change. Always check the official government source in your country and consult a local lawyer.
